I've always loved to convert my save files from vic2 to Hoi4 and see how ww2 (or 3,4,5,6...) would play out in al alternative history. Sadly these converter mods are always kind of unpolished and buggy.
I hope to see an official converter DLC like the Ck2 to Eu4 converter. It will also attract new Hoi4 players.

No. Massive amount of work to maintain and the devs time would be better served on the game, than on a converter that only a fraction of players would use. Leave it to modders.

As someone that likes playing Megacampaigns I prefer the devs to focus on development of the game instead that on converters. The community makes the best converters anyways .

The problem with converters is that they need to be updated anytime anything in one of those two games changes. This binds resources in both dev teams.

I never understood the point of Victoria -> HoI converter. Any converted scenario has no special flavor. For CK -> EU and EU -> Victoria conversions it's not a big problem,
because these games are driven by their own mechanics and don't really need special events/focuses to be fun to play. But HoI is always a railroaded experience. Without events (in the old games) and focus trees (in HoI4) it's just empty, nothing happens. I guess, you can pass default focuses, manually justify wargoals and conquer stuff, but I can't imagine spending hours playing such a scenario.

I used to be of this mindset, but there's always modders willing to do the work anyway, so I think they oughta just focus on making each game as good as it can be. I'm not a modder, but if I was I would probably be looking into how to make things like dynamic but flavourful focus trees for great and secondary powers (I'm sure they're way ahead of me on that thought, they are very clever!)
Something someone brought up in the subreddit is that Victoria 3 would probably make for a better base for a modern day mod than any other paradox game, which I agree with. In this case you could have both a Vicky3 to HoI4 converter and a HoI4 to Vicky3 converter, which is pretty funny to me.

simple: take revenge of a special country or ideology
the converter does create "railroaded" path to take these revenges
but the AI is quite hard to prepare for this, i agree

While I disagree with this idea I find it pointless for a game as ultimately railroaded as Hearts of Iron. It's a WW2 game, in order for the game to work effectively at representing anything you need unique focus trees, otherwise everyone does their own thing and only the player has real initiative.

well you can actually create generated yet railroaded focus trees to make sure AI does follow a definite direction during the game
that's what Vic2 to HoI4 converter does and gets better at generating with each version
