KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has announced free solar panels for low-income families in effort to provide relief from load shedding, ARY News reported on Sunday.Speaking to journalists here, Tessori said households consuming up to 300 units of electricity, with a rent agreement and children under 10 years old, will be provided with free solar panels.Sindh Governor said this initiative will free citizens from the “misery of load shedding” and was made possible through the generosity of overseas Pakistanis.He assured that the solar panels will be provided free of cost, and households can use up to 300 units of electricity without any charges. “No charges will be taken for installing solar,” he added.Moreover, Kamran Tessori announced that ration bags would be distributed from the Governor's House on Eid day, and 20,000 families were set to benefit. He also announced the launch of a free medical treatment and medicine programme after Eid.Highlighting his initiatives for the Karachi citizens, he said that thousands of people have benefited from IT courses, and motorbikes were being distributed to those whose bikes were stolen.Nearly, 8,000 students have received Laptops, and assistance has been provided to women and children, he added.The Governor expressed his commitment to providing job opportunities for youth and announced the establishment of a Governor's Job Portal.After Eidul Adha, he said a free six-language course will be offered at the Governor's House, and a program will be launched to facilitate visas and jobs for young people.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday spoke to the leaders of the Muslim World, including Turkiye, Tajikistan and Bahrain, and exchanged Eidul Adha greetings with them.The telephonic conversations held between PM Sharif and the leaders of the Islamic nations focused on conveying best wishes on the auspicious occasion of Eid and the resolve to strengthen bilateral ties.In a call with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, both sides expressed their mutual respect and admiration for the strong historical ties, built on shared values and cultural affinities.The prime minister acknowledged and appreciated Bahrain’s support and cooperation in various fields over the years. RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi district administration would not allow anyone to collect the hides of sacrificial animals without permission, ARY News reported.According to a district administration spokesman, the Punjab government had made prior approval for the collection of sacrificial animal hides mandatory for welfare organisations and others.He informed me that the district administration had been directed to strictly implement the plan regarding the collection of sacrificial animals’ hides during Eid ul Azha.The administration warned that anyone found violating government orders would be dealt with in accordance with the law.The spokesman said that any organisation or person who would collect the sacrificial animal hides without prior approval would be treated as an offense and would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.It has been decided that no one will be allowed to collect hides without the permission of the administration.Likewise, monitoring of the banned organizations and their affiliated elements would be conducted, he informed.Eidul AdhaPakistan will celebrate Eidul Adha on June 17 after the Zil Hajj moon was sighted on June 7.Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of two Eid festivals celebrated by the Muslim faithful to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to God. KARACHI: The Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar on Sunday ordered to make effective, strict and comprehensive security on Eid ul Azha, ARY News reported.He said that the security on Eid should be made properly. Lanjar said that the code of conduct should be strictly implemented.Stakeholders should be taken on board on security measures, he said adding that the implementation of Eidul-Azha 2024 Contingency Plan be ensured in letter and spirit.The minister said that all registered welfare and social organisations, religious madrasas and other stakeholders should be made bound as per the code of conduct.He said that security should be made extraordinary at all mosques, Imam Bargahs, Eid prayer places, and other open places. KARACHI: AIG Karachi has taken notice of increasing trend of TikTok making in police officials including ladies police constables, ARY News reported on Sunday.Karachi police chief has said that the uniform given for performing official duty and not for the personal publicity. "During duty hours making TikTok in uniform has been inappropriate," AIG Police Imran Yaqoob Minhas has said."A constable has been sent to CPEC duty over making TikTok," police chief said. "A woman constable was issued warning and censured over the practice," AIG Karachi said.He said a DSP has also been issued warning over the practice. AIG Police warned of departmental action against officials over their involvement in making TikTok while in uniform.

Pakistan's Telecom Operators Association has expressed concerns over the heavy taxes slapped in budget 2024, ARY News reported.In a letter written to the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance, Salim Mandviwala, the Telecom Operators expressed concerns over the heavy taxes introduced in the budget.The telecom sector has warned that foreign investment might withdraw from Pakistan if tax issues are not resolved. According to the telecom operators, unresolved tax issues could lead to legal complications for the government.The letter highlights that two major market players have already decided to leave Pakistan. The telecom sector contributed PKR 340 billion in tax revenue last year, and has attracted direct investment of USD 15 billion to date, the letter stated.The implementation of budget proposals will severely impact the dream of a Digital Pakistan, the letter's content reveals. The letter further mentions that collecting 75% advance tax from non-filer telecom users is impractical.The letter outlines that this decision will result in revenue loss for both the telecom sector and the government. ISLAMABAD: The poliovirus has been detected in sewage samples from three districts including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Loralai, ARY News reported citing sources.According to sources, this is the second time this year that polio has been detected in Islamabad's sewage, while Rawalpindi has reported its second case and Loralai its first.Sources, the samples were collected on June 3rd, and the results show the presence of wild poliovirus type 1, and vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 and 3.So far this year, 176 samples from all four provinces have tested positive for polio, and 45 districts across the country have reported polio cases.The Environmental Site in Islamabad's Sabzi Mandi has also tested positive for polio, sources added.

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman on Sunday said that the salaried class has paid 360 billion rupees in tax, while feudal paid only four billion rupees.Commenting on budget while addressing a press conference here, JI Ameer questioned, how much tax imposed over the feudal class."On questioning, they said, they have increased salaries of the government employees," Hafiz Naeem said. "The private sector have many times more employees than the government employees," he retorted.JI leader said that the private sector employees being subjected to exploitation. "Their salaries not used to increase"."They are saying they have decreased price hike to 12 percent from early 38 percent. Visit streets, neighborhoods and ask people. Everyone has been troubled," JI leader said. "Maximum tax has been imposed over the salaried class", he further said.He said the prime minister has promised to the nation that this will be the final IMF package for Pakistan. "Elder Mian Sahib had also said this while seeking the IMF package that it will be the last loan programme," JI chief added.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi assured foolproof security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan during his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong, ARY News reported.The minister called arrived at the Chinese Embassy to call on Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong who warmly welcomed Mohsin Naqvi. SANGHAR: A local court has remanded five people into police custody for chopping off camel's leg in Sanghar, Sindh, ARY News reported on Sunday.According to the SSP Sanghar, two out of five suspects namely Abdul Shakoor Shar and Abid Shar have confessed to their crime in the probe.Meanwhile, the camel has been shifted to Karachi for treatment.Alandlord in Sindh’s Sanghar district allegedly chopped off a camel’s legas punishment for scavenging into his field for fodder.According to police, the incident occurred in Mund Jamrao village in Sanghar district on Friday.Soomer Khan, owner of the camel, narrated the incident along with his camel at Sanghar press club. “I have no enmity with anyone. I don’t know why this was done to my camel,” he said.Sanghar SSP took notice of the incident after thevideoof camel with chopped leg went viral on social media.Police officials said the peasant had refused to identify the culprit and press charges against him, hence police lodged an FIR on behalf of the state against unknown persons under sections 429 and 34 PPC.

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) MPA Iqbal Wazir has been booked for allegedly assaulting ANP leader Alif Khan in Peshawar, ARY News reportedAn FIR has been registered against PTI-P MPA Iqbal Wazir for allegedly assaulting ANP leader Alf Khan in Peshawar. The case was filed at the Sharqi Police Station.According to the FIR, the MPA and his accomplices hit Alif Khan's vehicle, injuring him and two passersby. The attackers also damaged Alf Khan's vehicle.An Awami National Party (ANP) leader, Alf Khan, was attacked and injured near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Peshawar on Saturday night.The assailants included Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) MPA Iqbal Wazir and his accomplices.Following the incident, Peshawar Police registered a case against Iqbal Wazir. Alf Khan sustained minor injuries and received prompt medical attention at a hospital.

Sindh police have busted a three-member Karachi gang that was robbing citizens coming out of banks with cash in the city, ARY News reported on Sunday.According to details, in an operation by Garden police, three 'outlaws' were arrested. It has been reported that gang used to rob citizens who were leaving banks with cash in Karachi.The arrested were identified as Mir Kamran Samdani, Muhammad Nawaz and Azhar Iqbal, while three pistols and rounds were also confiscated from them, the SSP city said.The arrested outlaws were wanted to police for their crimes in Nagan Chowrangi, Golimar, Malir and other areas.Read more:Gang looting people outside banks arrestedA few months ago, the suspect was also arrested by the CTD on charges of robbing a courier van, and he was recently released on bail from jail. KURRAM: In a tragic incident, at least two people dead while five others injured as a landmine exploded on roadside in central Kurram, ARY News reported.As per details, the explosion occurred on Korham road, leaving two dead and five injured where four are in critical condition.According to 1122 rescue officials, the dead bodies and injured have been shifted to the nearby hospital.Earlier, at least two injured including police constable in a blast occurred in Tehsil Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan.The incident occurred when a roadside exploded as the DSP and other police personnel were on the way for polio duty.READ: Cop among two injured in DI Khan blastThe police officials said the blast injured the driver of elite forces and a constable whereas a bomb disposal squad reached the spot of the incident and examined the situation.Prior to this, at least one dead, whereas 20 others injured twin landmine blasts occurred near Thaikedar Naddi in Duki district of Balochistan.The first explosion occurred when a truck hit a landmine, followed by a second blast as people gathered at the scene.The police officials stated that both landmine blasts resulted in the killing of one citizen whereas 17 others sustained injuries. The injured are being transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

KHAIRPUR: In a tragic incident, at least four dead in a collision between a minitruck and coach in Khairpur, ARY News reported.As per details, the unfortunate incident occurred when a Punjab-bound speeding coach from coach rammed into minitruck near economic zone in Khairpur and killed three while injuring 17 others.The police officials said that the injured have been shifted to hospital.Earlier, in a horrific incident, at least five including four women killed in a Rickshaw-Car collision in Faisalabad.As per details, the incident occurred near Jhumra flyover where a speeding car rammed into a loader rickshaw and killed five, injuring three others.Read more:Five wedding guests dead in Nawabshah car-truck collisionThe police officials stated that a worker identified as Amjad was on his way home with his family when the speeding car collided with the loader rickshaw.The deceased include five members of one family, including mother, her two minor daughters, her son and her mother-in-law.Furthermore, the injured father and two sons were shifted to the nearby hospital whereas the suspect driver managed to flee the spot of the incident.Earlier, at least three burned to death as a car collided with a bike near Gadani Mor in Hub, an area of Balochistan.As per details, the three people died due to the fire that erupted after a collision between a car carrying Iranian petrol and a motorcycle.According to the police, the fire brigade extinguished the fire, but the vehicle and the motorcycle were badly burnt, private news channels reported.

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) termed the Sindh budget ‘anti-urban areas’, expressing concerns over ‘ignoring’ urban parts of the province particularly Karachi, ARY News reported.The MQM-P held a meeting presided over by Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to discuss federal and Sindh budgets.The party spokesman in a statement said that Karachi contributes 97 percent of Sindh's revenue yet it was deprived of major development projects.The MQM-P also expressed concerns over the federal budget despite being the coalition partner in the centre, maintaining that the tax burden on the salaried class was increased.The party maintained that the increase in income tax on the salaried class would disproportionately affect the middle and lower classes. “Raising taxes on the salaried class is tantamount to providing protection to the country's big landlords, capitalists and Waderas,” the spokesman added.The spokesman said that the party also discussed the political situation in detail while expressing deep concern over the political scenario of the country.Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui formed a four-member committee that will approach political parties and hold meetings with them.
