Is Pizza Night your favorite night of the week? Mine, too! Except for the price.
For years getting pizza, goodpizza, felt like a splurge. While there may be some cities in the country where great pizza is a dime a dozen, the pizza syndicate in California charges a high price for a quality pie. We’re talking $30 and up for a large supreme pizza!

So I did. I learned tomake homemade pizzainstead. You can, too. I’ll show you the best way to make a homemade supreme pizza with your favorite toppings. You won’t need a pizza peel or a hot pizza stone, just regular kitchen equipment. It’s super easy as well as delicious!

a pizza crust – You can buy commercial pizza dough at the store or make your own homemade pizza dough. I’m partial to sourdough pizza crust. But, if you don’t have time to make your own dough, you can alsomake pizza on pita bread, atop French bread, or even on English muffins. You can also makepizza bagels, all with the supreme pizza toppings.
pizza sauce– I typically use an easy pizza sauce made from tomato paste, but if you’re in a pinch, you can use tomato sauce and dried Italian herbs.
cheese – shredded mozzarella cheese and/or jack cheese are great for pizza. Parmesan cheese is a nice option as well. If you shred part skim milk mozzarella yourself, you can avoid the cellulose powder that’s often added to shredded cheese. This additiveoften prevents the cheese from melting well.
meat – Supreme pizza toppings typically include a lot of meats, like pepperoni slices, cooked and crumbled Italian sausage, chopped ham or Canadian bacon, You can also use ground beef or pork sausage if that’s what you have on hand.
veggies – Dazzle your taste buds with lots of veggies, like chopped or sliced white or red onions, chopped or sliced green bell peppers (you can use red or yellow peppers, too), sliced mushrooms, and sliced black olives.
PRO TIP: Be mindful of how much veg you add. Fresh veggies give off water when cooked. Too many will make your pizza soggy and affect the texture of the finished pizza pie. You can offset this a bit if you top your pizza with sautéed vegetables from which the water has already been cooked off.
These are the classic toppings, but feel free to add extra toppings or to top your pizza with fresh basil and/or red pepper flakes.

FAQs
What is a supreme pizza?
A supreme pizza is pretty standard fare at most of my childhood pizza places, with a few twists to the nomenclature. My hometown favorite,ChiChi’s Pizzacalls it a Super Deluxe. Pizza Hut calls is a Supreme. At Costco, it was called the Combo. Whatever you call it, Supreme Pizza is delicious!
Do you cook supremepizza toppings before adding to the pizza?
You need to cook the sausage, but for the rest of the toppings, you don’t need to cook them. Simply place them on raw. They will cook in the oven.If you prefer, you can precook the vegetables to eliminate some of their water content. That’s up to you.
Why is my pizza soggy?
Watch how many vegetables you put on the pizza. Water will cook out of raw veggies onto your pizza.Too many and you might end up with a soggy pizza. Another possiblepizza cooking mistakecould be because your oven wasn’t hot enough. We cook ours at 475 degrees or on a very hot outdoor grill.
