Adopt Bonnie on Petfinder (2024)

Bonnie is a silly, affectionate 5 month old shepherd mix that weighs 30 pounds. She is estimated to weigh around 70 pounds once she is full grown. She is very loving and affectionate. You can always count on Bonnie to brighten your spirits with her silly way of sliding under your hand for a belly rub or under your arm to get some cuddles, and you can always expect a sweet puppy kiss after. This social butterfly doesn't know a stranger. No matter where she is, you can expect her friendly, outgoing, and social personality to shine. She is super smart and eager to please her human, so she has excelled with training in her foster home. She already knows "sit" and "down", and her foster mom is working on teaching her more commands before she heads to her forever home.

Bonnie is low to medium energy so needs a few brief exercise sessions per day to burn some of her puppy energy. She loves to go on walks around the neighborhood or park, and would enjoy longer weekend adventures hiking nature trails. She is always up for a good time and is a perfect companion for going on adventures because she loves the outdoors and car rides. If there is a pond or river nearby, you can always expect her to hop in to splash around for a couple of minutes because this girl loves to play in water. She loves to hop in the doggy pool at her foster home and cool off after she gets done running and playing with the resident dogs. She gets excited to go on car rides because she knows that means she gets to go on adventures, even if it is just an adventure to get a pup cup from Starbucks. She is easily entertained with toys, and loves them all from squeaky toys to tennis balls. If you work from home, she will happily play with her toys and relax on a doggy bed to chew her bones while you work. If there are days where the weather prevents her from having fun outside, she would love to go to doggy day care to socialize and play with doggy friends.

Bonnie is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. She loves going on walks and picked up on leash training very quickly. She also mastered potty training and will let you know when she needs to potty by alerting you at the back door. She currently sleeps in a kennel at night and will sleep through the night without making a peep, but she would love to sleep with her humans in bed once she gets a little bit older. She does well being in a kennel while her foster mom goes to work, and when she peeps in on her through the security camera, she will be napping or playing with her toys. But if she is left out of the kennel, but in a room with the door closed when her foster mom leaves, she has shown some signs of separation anxiety where she cried and barked pretty loud until her foster mom came back. She is still teething so as long as certain items are not left within reach (shoes, human food, etc), she can be trusted to be left out in the living room if left leave alone for short periods though.

Bonnie is kid, dog and cat friendly. She loves to have a playful companion around to match her play style. She is in a foster home with one younger playful dog and a few older dogs who don't play much. She does great with all of them, and really enjoys playing with the younger dog. She will attempt to play with the older dogs, but they correct her and she politely leaves them alone. She is the same with cats and wants to be their friends, but when they communicate they don't want to be bothered, she will leave them alone. She gets along really well with her foster's dog-friendly cat and is very gentle with him when they play, and she steers clear of the older cat who has no interest in being her friend. She would do well in a home with kids and the more hands for belly rubs, the better. Due to her spunky play style and the fact she doesn't know how big she is yet, she may be too much for smaller kids or babies, so older kids who are more stable on their feet are recommended. Her ideal home environment is a house with a fenced in backyard that she can run and play with, and she would really love to have another playful dog in her forever home that she can have fun with. It is not recommended that she live in an apartment or townhouse, unless there is a fenced in yard connected that she can have easy access to do her puppy zoomies when she gets a burst of energy.

If you are interested in adopting Bonnie, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application.

Bonnie is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted.

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back.

Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The total cost to adopt is $630, which includes a $400 adoption fee and a $230 transport fee. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
